This is a clay interpretation of the Burgess Shale fossil organism called Wiwaxia corrugata. Wiwaxia was a soft-bodied slug-like creature with scales and spines. Its relationship to modern animals is controversial. It has been variously classified as an annelid, mollusk, or as a member of an extinct phylum of animals.
This charm was sculpted out of Polymer Clay. The face and underwear was painted with gouache, and sealed with two coats of shiny varnish. The charm hangs on a gold toned chain, measuring 22 inches, and closes with a lobster clasp.
